To Mayor Bill de Blasio:
While New York City has announced the implementation of 15 new Neighborhood Slow Zones over the next three years, Park Slope, your own neighborhood, has been left off the list. As you know, reducing vehicle speeds is a critical facet of achieving Vision Zero. Someone struck by a vehicle traveling at 30 MPH has a 30% chance of dying, while someone struck at 20 MPH has a 95% chance of surviving.
We the undersigned citizens of Park Slope request the implementation of a Neighborhood Slow Zone covering the entirety of Park Slope in 2014. Twenty is plenty for us!
